HVAC link building

Local trades businesses have link opportunities that other industries do not. Most contractors have never used any of them.

The links you can actually get

You are not going to earn a link from a national newspaper. You do not need to.

Manufacturers and suppliers. If you are an authorised dealer for a brand, that brand very likely has a dealer locator that links out. This is the easiest link in the industry and most contractors have never claimed it.

Trade associations and certifications. Membership directories, certification bodies and licensing organisations. Relevant, authoritative, and you probably already qualify for several.

Local sponsorship. The youth sports team, the community event, the school fundraiser. Genuine local links, and you were probably going to sponsor something anyway.

Local press and community sites. A contractor who can explain why pipes freeze or what a heat pump grant actually covers is a useful source for a local journalist during a cold snap.

Suppliers and partner trades. The plumber, the electrician, the builder you subcontract with. Reciprocal in a way that is normal business rather than a scheme.

How we build links

Slower than buying them, and it does not evaporate at the next algorithm update.

Weeks 1–2

Audit and gap analysis

Every link you have, every link the contractors above you have, and the gap between the two. The gap is the plan.

Weeks 2–4

Claim what you already qualify for

Dealer locators, associations, certifications, chamber listings. Fast wins that most contractors have simply never claimed.

Month 2

Local relationships

Sponsorships, partner trades, community organisations. Real relationships that happen to produce links.

Months 3–6

Digital PR

Seasonal hooks — the first freeze, a heatwave, an energy price change — pitched to local and trade press.

Ongoing

Prospect and monitor

New opportunities each month, plus monitoring for links that break or disappear.

Questions about Link building

Should I buy links?

No. Bought links breach Google's guidelines, and in a local market where a handful of contractors compete, the risk of a manual action is not worth the temporary gain. Everything on this page is a link you can earn and defend.

How many links do I need?

Fewer than you think, and more relevant than you expect. In most local HVAC markets the contractors ranking well have a modest number of genuinely local and industry-relevant links, not hundreds of generic ones.

What about guest posting?

On genuine industry or local publications, fine. On a network of thin sites that exist only to sell posts, no — that is a bought link with extra steps.

Do directory listings count as links?

Some do. The industry directories, trade bodies and reputable local business listings carry weight and also serve as citations, which matter for local rankings. Generic global directories do very little.

How long before links affect rankings?

Individual links rarely produce a visible jump. The effect accumulates over months, which is why this runs continuously rather than as a one-off campaign.
