HVAC local SEO across your whole service radius
You serve fifteen towns and rank in one. Local SEO is the work of closing that gap without spinning up a farm of near-identical town pages.
The map pack decides who gets the emergency call
Three results, above everything else, chosen mostly on proximity, relevance and prominence. Here is what that means in practice.
Proximity is where the searcher is standing, and you cannot change it. What you can change is how far your visibility reaches before it falls away, which is largely a function of the other two.
Relevance is whether Google understands you do the thing being searched. Categories, services listed on your profile, and the words on the page you link to all feed this. Most profiles we audit have the primary category wrong.
Prominence is reviews, citations, links and mentions. This is where most contractors are beatable, because most contractors ask for reviews sporadically or not at all.
We measure your visibility on a grid across your service area rather than checking a single ranking, because a single ranking tells you almost nothing about where you are actually being seen.

How local work runs
Local moves faster than organic. This is usually where the first results come from.
Map the real service area
Every town, suburb and postcode you will actually drive to. This becomes the grid we measure against for the rest of the engagement.
Profile rebuild
Categories, services, description, hours, attributes, service area and photos. Done properly, this alone often moves visibility.
Citations and consistency
Find every listing with the wrong phone number or old address, and fix them. Tedious, and it matters.
Reviews
A request system that fits how your technicians actually finish a job, plus a response policy for the bad ones.
Local content and links
Town pages only where genuinely warranted, plus local sponsorships, associations and supplier mentions.
Grid reporting
Visibility across the whole area, month over month, so you can see the coverage expanding.
Questions about Local SEO
Why do I rank in my own town but nowhere else?
Because proximity is heavily weighted in local results and your prominence is not yet strong enough to carry you further out. The fix is a combination of reviews, local links, and genuinely useful content about the areas you want to reach — not two hundred cloned town pages.
Should I use a service area business or a physical address?
If customers do not come to your premises, you should be a service area business with the address hidden. Showing an address you do not staff is one of the most common causes of suspension in this industry.
How many towns can I realistically rank in?
It depends on density and competition. In a spread-out rural area you may cover a very wide radius. In a dense metro with a contractor on every block, your reach will be tighter and you will need much stronger review and link signals to extend it.
Do I need a separate Google profile for each town?
No, unless you have a genuinely separate staffed location there. Creating profiles for addresses you do not occupy is the fastest way to lose the profile you have.
How does this relate to your map pack service?
Map pack work is the sharp end of local SEO, and we cover it in more depth on the map pack page. Local SEO is the broader programme that includes it.
