HVAC technical SEO
Most HVAC websites were built once, several years ago, and never audited since. This is the unglamorous work that makes everything else possible.
Content cannot rank on a site Google struggles to read
The technical problems we find most often on heating and cooling websites, roughly in order of how much damage they do.
Mobile speed. Most of your traffic is a homeowner on a phone, often on mobile data, often in a hurry. A site that takes five seconds to become usable loses a meaningful share of them before it renders. Uncompressed hero images and bloated page builders are the usual culprits.
Duplicate and near-duplicate pages. Usually a legacy set of town pages where only the place name changes. Google devalues the whole set, not just the copies.
Indexation problems. Pages blocked in robots.txt, orphaned pages nothing links to, or a staging site left indexable alongside the live one.
Missing or broken schema. Either absent entirely, or present and invalid, which is worse because it can make you ineligible for rich results without any warning.
Botched migrations. A rebuild with no redirect map, which loses every ranking the old site had earned. This is the single most expensive mistake on this list and it is entirely preventable.

How we work through it
Technical work is front-loaded because everything after it depends on it.
Crawl and diagnose
Full crawl, Core Web Vitals field data, Search Console history, log files where available. We produce a prioritised list, not a 200-page PDF.
Fix what is actively harming you
Indexation blocks, duplicate sets, broken redirects, invalid schema. Highest damage first.
Speed
Images, scripts, caching, hosting. Measured on mobile, because that is where your customers are.
Structure
Internal linking so no page is more than three clicks deep, and no page is orphaned.
Monitor
Weekly crawl monitoring so a plugin update or a developer change does not quietly undo the work.
Questions about Technical SEO
How fast does my site need to be?
As a working target, largest contentful paint under 2.5 seconds and cumulative layout shift under 0.1, measured on mobile. Beyond the ranking effect, speed matters because a homeowner with no heat will not wait.
Will fixing technical issues alone improve my rankings?
Sometimes dramatically, if something was actively blocking you. More often it removes a ceiling rather than pushing you up, which is why we do it before the content work rather than instead of it.
We are planning a website rebuild. What should we do first?
Talk to us before it launches, not after. A migration with a proper redirect map is routine. A migration without one loses rankings that took years to build, and recovering them takes months. See the website page for how we handle builds.
Do we need to move off our page builder?
Not always. Some can be made fast enough with disciplined configuration. Others cannot, and we will tell you honestly which one you have.
Is schema markup worth doing?
Yes, and it is increasingly important as search results incorporate more AI-generated answers. Structured data is how you tell a machine what your business does and what services it sells. We cover it in more depth on the schema page.
